The jewellery gauge sizer tool allows you to convert jewellery measuments from millimeters to inches, and where available to gauge sizes as well. In addition the tool can be calibrated to accurately show the jewellery sizes to scale on your computer monitor.
Calibrating the Jewellery Sizer
Click on the 'Calibration' tab to start the calibration process. You will need to choose of the available objects on the screen to calibrate against. At present you can use a credit/debit card, CD or DVD disk or a standard ruler.
Once you've selected your item, you will see an on screen representation of your item and a scale slider. Slide this slider until the object on the screen is the same size and your real-life object.
Once you are happy that the item displayed on screen is to scale, you can using the jewellery sizer by clicking on the relevant tabs across the top.
The term Gauge refers to the thickness of your piercing jewellery and specifically the part that goes through the piercing. We have jewellery in almost every gauge, so you're sure to find the perfect fit. Choosing the right gauge is always important so we even have awkward 'in between' sizes like 9.0mm and 17mm.

The length measurement refers to the length of the jewellery bar and not the length of the whole products. It is always important to get the right length piercing jewellery! If the piercing jewellery is too short it will pinch and may reject, whereas overly-long piercing bars will slide and be uncomfortable.

The internal diameter is very important when buying ball closure rings, circular barbells and body spirals because it tells you how much space there will be for your piercing. This is especially important where the ring goes around part of the body, such as a lip piercing or a helix piercing. To find out the best internal diameter you should measure from the piercing hole to the edge of your lip / ear / nose.
Piercing jewellery balls come in a wide range of sizes, each of which fit onto different jewellery and are chosen for different reasons - for example, a small 2.5mm ball looks great on a nose piercing, while 6mm balls make more of a statement and tend to be found on belly button piercings.
