The helix is the outer rim of the ear and helix piercings can be placed anywhere along the top half of the outer rim. If helix piercings are placed halfway down the ear they can also be called 'auricle piercings' while helix piercings near the top of the ear are also known as 'pinna piercings'.
Barbells, ball closure rings, circular barbells and body spirals can all be worn in helix piercings. Barbells move around the least and are therefore recommended as initial jewellery. This piercing should be cleaned at least twice daily with saline solution. Avoid swimming and submersion in water until healed.
Helix Piercing Healing Time: 8 to 16 weeks
