Most standard piercings (I.e lobe) can be done under 16 years of age with parental consent or if a parent is present. Others such as Tragus piercings, surface piercings etc. usually require ID and you'll need to be at 16 years of age to have these. Valid ID includes passports and driving licences.

Got my nose and tragus done here and honestly I felt like cattle. They actually served people with higher ticket numbers before me - just whoever was closest - until I complained. The piercer was abrupt but pierced my tragus without any pain, however it wasn't until it started to get really bad hypotrophic scarring a month on that I got a trusted second opinion and was told I didn't have enough tragus to pierce in the first place!! The bar is wonky and uncomfortably positioned and will most likely reject. I have asked several piercers and all have said they wouldn't pierce my non-existant tragus if i'd come to them. My nose was better butr he missed with the numbing agent (which has GOT to make you worry - he missed with a *spray*, what about a needle!?!) though I didn't realised until too late and managed to inflict the worst pain i've ever experienced, despite having my nose done on the other side painlessly *without* numbing agent. It bled for days, gets mild scarring frequently but it *is* beautifully positioned according to my fussy wishes :P All in all - totally unimpressed. Anyone can pierce someone adaquetly but it takes skill to get it right. All I can say is I wont be fooled by their cheaper prices or good recommendations again.

Salamanders is amazing! I had my belly done last year and absoloutely love it, they did an amazing job! Even so, i had my scaffold pierced on Saturday and goin back on friday to get the bottom of my belly pierced... no hesitation about salamanders, friendly, positive and bludy amazin!

my experience
I recently decided I wanted by belly piercing and decided to try salamanders for the first time. Firstly Jordan didn't mark it out whilst i was stood up like he should have, but whilst i was lying down instead; then he didn't ask me to check that i was happy with the placing but instead just went straight ahead with the piercing. Admittedly it was painless due to the freeze he put on, however he did seem to rush it a bit and it wasn't even on one of the busiest days so i doubt to think how fast he'd do it then. It turned out to be wonky because he didn't mark it out stood up, i went back and told him straight away and he just gave it a little twist and said nah it's fine look. At home that evening my family all also thought it looked wonky, i wasn't happy with it. So i went back the next day and the lady in charge said the only thing would be to take it out and let it heal up then have it re-pierced; i decided to do this. When i went back for the re-piercing they told me Jordan was their best piercer so to hav ehim do it again. I've had it done and although it is straight he has done it with more skin in between than normal, meaning i can't wear regular belly bars and have to but extra long ones, which there is a much smaller range to choose from. Also it became infected, and I followed the cleaning and care instructions correctly. So overall I've not had a good experience personally at Salamanders; I am currently wanting another piercing however I am still unsure where to go because i am quite reluctant to return to Salamanders. Also some of my friends have had bad experiences there.

Best in Derby!
I've had 25 of my 30 piercings done by Jordan, and I can't rate him high enough! These range from surface piercings to standard ear piercings and a fair few inbetween. I've never had any problems there. They were even kind enough to reduce the price when I had multiple surface piercings done at the same time. I've moved out of Derby now, but I'll always travel back for a new piercing. Best place out there!

regarding a statement from someone called mick, saying that the service is terrible and that piercings go wrong. Ive lived in derby all my life and have knows 100's of people who have had piercings there and all of them would reccomend people. Regarding tattoo's there, I have had all of mine done from a tattooist there and he was fantastic, puts every other place in derby to shame. Everyone is intitles to there own opinion but when its for revenge its very childish and immature. For anyone reading this, go there your self and judge from your own experiances. (please forgive my spelling) beenie.

I got my venoms done there recently, they didnt make me feel relaxed they just gave me a number and put me in line, none of the jewellery was in steralised packets nor was the needle, the piercer didn't give me any advice afterwards, he didnt tell me what size bar he'd used and theyre WONKY! X

Scaffold piercing!!
Went yesterday for my scaffold piercing!! WOW!!! never been to such a professional studio for a piercing!! Jordan was sooooooo friendly and so quick and clean! the piercing was almost pain free cos they used a freeze on it! Cant believe it was only £10 and its for all piercings so definatly going back for more and my friends are all coming too!!!! Thanks salamander you are definatly derbys number one!!!!!

Im going for my lip pierced tomorrow. After reading the reviews i am a lot more re-assured this is the place i should go to get it done. My first piercing and going for my lip. I will leave a comment tomorrow saying how it has gone. Im sure it will all be good. Im happy to pay £10 for it because i know i will get a good service, Hopefully get as lil pain as possible, No Pain, No Gain (:

Salamanders is just a brilliant place with amazingly friendly staff, the other day i went and had my nipple peirced there, we had a laugh and a chat which totally took my mind off everything, the piercing was over before i knew it, and i'm going for my other one to be done tomorrow.

Tbh salamanders are the best piercing studio. I have 21 soon to be 22 majority done by salamanders. They are friendly helpful and always give advice. Never had an 'infected' piercing from there. They don't use the same needles twice you watch jordan open a new needle and it's not just the responsibility of the piercer to be clean the piercee also needs to watch out as its mre then likely they cause the infection not the piercer =) i wont go anywhere else now for my piercings :)

the worst shop in Derby they did`nt help Karen the owner is a nasty lady that thinks shes better then anyone else , sitting at her desk!! my daughters piercings all went septic and i hear they are using the same needles twice !! i`ve reported them to the council and i`m waiting to hear from them i saw empty beer cans and dirty ashtrays upstair Discusting !!

Been to salamanders a few times since i've started at derby uni and honestly i've found no faults! admittedly abit pricier then other places i'm happy too pay extra for the safe and brilliant work they do! nothing has rejected and all healed up faster then any other piercings before. 2 cartilage and a lobe at salamanders and i'm already considering them again! oh and i came in with a septic piercing from a different studio they were happy to help take it out and help me out. i've never found a place who would do that!

How much does it cost for a cartilage piercingg, and do you numb it?? and also how much dus it cost for a belly bar on the bottom? is it safe to have two belly bars in at the same time ???

I have had about 15 piercings done at salamanders and I wouldn't go anywhere else. The staff are lovely and are happy to talk to you about anything, giving you honest answers about what you want to know. I do agree that sometimes they are very concerned with getting the next customer in, but it's a business what do you expect? It is also quite disappointing that they don't use surface bars, and that they favour PTFE but I had my nape done there and it hasn't rejected yet! Plus jordan is so gorgeous, it kind of makes up for the pain of the piercing you get!

Salarmanders, derby
They do kinda rush you but ive had tragus, snakebites, both nipples, tongue done twice and there was nothing wrong with any of them, i think jordans an excellent piercer the staff are friendly, the studio is perfect i always watch when he changes gloves and opens the packet that the needles come in and its all at a professional level i wouldnt get a piercing anywhere else unless i was on holiday and wanted one that badly lol. Only problem is ive seen all the piercings that they perform there cheaper elsewhere but i suppose your payin that extra bit because its so clean and professional.

8 peircings at salamanders
iv currantly got 20 peircings n iv had 8 of my body peircings at salamaders. these include tragus, 2 surface [hip, wrist], tongue, lip and eyebrow, navel top and bottom. the peircer was done all 8 of them was called Jordan and he really makes you feel at ease as he walks you through what is happening and he makes you laugh. i would recomend gettin peircings at salamanders. i am also about to get my newest tattoo at salamanders as they have recently turned into a tattoo studio.

I'm going to be honest to. The staff are lovely, and they've always asked for ID when i've gone in for a piercing. It's good value for money but I must admit the piercings don't take long, they seem to want to get people in and out as quickly as possible. Maybe a little bit more time spent would be good?

navel piercing
the staff were very friendly and the piercing was quick and quite painless. I was told how to look after the piercing,and that i would have a free change. Would definately go back for more piercings :-)

I am going to be honest, Yeah all the staff are nice and the place is very clean but they are not the best piercers at all! They do surface piercings with staright bars. . . curved bars. . . etc They don't ask for any I.D And they are more concerned with getting in their next customer than they are with taking time with the piercing!

Ive had all but my first peircing done here which now totals at about 12. Aways amazing with advice on everyting concerning peircings. When ive had an infection from a peircing done there jordon was more then happy to clean it and show me how to stop it reacurring. Wide range of jewelry available and almost every possible peircing is available. I never go any where else, and allmy friends are the same.

salamander is rather awesome! jordan is so nice, he sits down and talks to you whilst he is doing the piercing and makes you feel so at ease! and there was no waiting around, i just walked in and asked if he would pierce me and he said yes! the staff who i spoke to afterwards were also very nice and they told me that icould get a free bar change after 6 to 8 weeks, and if i had any enquiries then i could just ring up and talk to them or pop in and have a chat with jordan! ^_^
