I have been interested in piercing now for over 20 years and, as a merchant seaman, based in Singapore, I've had piercings all over the world. I have been coming to Carl for the last 10 years and have had around 30 piercings from him. He is probably the most knowlegable and skillful piercer around today, and I should know - I've been pierced by the best. A mixture of his wonderful technique and the high grade equipment and jewellery he uses has enabled me to have piercings that I could only dream of 20 years ago. He tells you, honestly, what to expect from a piercing, the best way to heal it and he's always available if you have a problem. I've always been treated with respect, even when I've been stupid and upset my piercings. Any jewellery changes or adjustments needed to get a piercing to heal have been free of charge, even though it's been my own fault. Not only does he tell you how to look after a piercing after he's finished, he also gives that aftercare in writing and it's also on the website. There are free checkups to make sure everythings going ok and free jewellery adjustment or change after initial healing if it's needed. I recommend The Piercing Bodz to everybody looking for a piercing. The hygiene standards are seriously high. Carl's knowledge and skill are far higher than any piercer I know and Carl and Shirley are 2 of the nicest people you could ever meet. Have a look at the website and see for yourself: http://piercing.bodz.co.uk ***** Impulse, halo83 and jaded How stupid have you made yourselves look ? You've had bloody good piercings from a top piercer, then you've ruined them by not following instructions, denied all responsibility, gone in to blame the piercer and come away disappointed when he hasn't accepted responsibility - and then you've refused to follow further advice and slagged off the piercer !! it's obvious to anyone that knows piercing that you have found other piercers (and I use that term very loosely) that are willing to take advantage of your stupidity and lie to you and manipulate you for their own ends. Of course they are going to tell you the piercing was done wrong, you're just too stupid to realise. Eyebrow bars in clitoral hoods ??? But - if you are happy with that situation that's up to you. I'm sure Carl is happy that you won't be going back to his studio, as he doesn't need stupid people that ruin his good reputation by completely ignoring aftercare advice and not returning for checkups. It's just a shame you aren't too stupid to use the internet, then you couldn't indulge in anonymous character assassination. !! And shame on bodyjewelleryshop.com for allowing it. I thought Spike was Carl's friend !! *****Posted by: sailorjohn
Are you sure you came to us? We don't have the description of that piercing on our site and I have performed hundreds of these. Who did your piercing ?Posted by: Carl at Bodz
I can only agree with the last comment posted, I felt stupid when they suggested I had snagged one of my piercings. It was as I thought, the bar was too short and I bought some bioflex off BJS and cut the bars down to a more appropriate size. Since then I have had no problems with said piercing - before this the ball was leaving an indentation! I i am now having problems with a surface piercing (again) but have bought my own tegaderm as I don't wish to approach them with any further problems...Posted by: impulse
Now i know that a lot of people rate this studio highly but i would say if everything is going fine with your piercing they most certainly are friendly and helpful but the minute you come to them with a problem you are treated appalingly and made to feel it was your fault. this is exactly what happened to me. I do not make a habit of giving piercing studios bad reviews but as my experience proved detromental to my health i felt i must. I had my navel re pierced here by carl having suffered a previous rejection some years earlier. He said it would be fine to re pierce. Only after he had done it he told me my navel was difficult to pierce as i do not have a lip and very tight skin. I f he had told me this before i would not have had it done. I feel the after care is wrong, as cleaning the piercing 'once every 2 weeks' as instructed led me to develop a nasty infection. I returned to the studio and was made to feel an idiot, i was shown up in front of other customers in the shop and basically made to feel it was all my fault. Most unhelpful. I also found out elswehere that the piercing was done far too shallow, consequently it rejected again badly. I also know where they buy their PMFK belly bars from wholesale and they cost about a quid even though the piercing cost me £40. The maths don't add up. I was most unhappy with my experience and would not recommend them to anyone.Posted by: halo83
I've had all 7 piercings (3 lip, tongue web, tongue, smiley and industrial) done there an they are really cool people. I went to body mech in southport the first time i went to get my tongue web done.. DONT! For the love of your body, just don't! (back to bodz now) First time i had something done there, cos i was a little nervous, they were so reasurring and really calming and they dont make yah feel like you're just one of many, they dont rush if you're hesitant or scared. (As i found out when my mate got her lip done.. she's a wimp) They are so professional in the studio and a right laugh out of it, they'll help sort out a piercing if you've not taken care of it cos the last thing they want is for one to go wrong (referring to another piercers work here or course!) They'd charge for the price of jewellery if they change it, thats it. It does seem like pepole are sayin the same thing about them, but they do deserve the praise they get. If it's your first one, or you 100000000 piercing (i'd like to see what you look like if you've had that many), they'll be perfect for you. www.bodz.info you will not ve sorry, and Chester's a nice day out as well!Posted by: Andy
I went here to get my veritcal hood pierced several years ago. there was a number of things which actually they did wrong and i only found out when i had to go somewhere else and get repierced because of their mistake. your meant to leave the numbing cream on for 20 minutes which they left on for about 30 seconds. when they pierced me they used a bar the size of a tongue bar which you are meant to use a very small bar smaller than an eyebrow bar. when i got pierced they didnt even pierce me in the right place they pierced me a centermetre or two above my hood (being a vertical hood piercing it is meant to go thru the hood) they had basically done a cross between a christina piercing (which it would have been if it was higher up but it was too low down) and a vertical hood piercing. two months after having the piercing done i had sex for the first time and it ripped half the piercing out. i couldnt believe what had happened i went back and they charged me extra to put a smaller bar in for their mistake and said this should be ok dont have sex for a while and let it heal. so i did and the next time it ripped the whole thing out! i later went to a local piercer who was disgusted and could tell by my scar where he had pierced me. she told me he hadnt even pierced me in the right place the reason ever time i was having sex it was ripping out she said was because he had basically pierced me like a surface piercing down there and there was nothing to stop the skin from not ripping. aswell as that the size of the bar he used was causing the piercing to reject. a year of so later i even went on internet to look at their website and it even had the description of a vertical hood piercing and how it is done WRONG! i DEFINATELY would not recommed going to this place unless you would like to be scared like me and had to pay the amount i did to get the perfect piercing which should have been done in the first place.Posted by: Jaded

I got my tongue pierced at Bodz by Carl. When I went I was unbelievably nervous, I told them that I was and they were extremely understanding. Shirley showed me a selection of jewellery that I could be pierced with (all sterilised, wrapped and clearly priced). I was called in right on my appointment time, this helped as the last thing a nervous client needs is to be waiting around wondering where the nearest exit is! I went into the studio with Carl. It was spotlessly clean. Nothing was cluttered and it was nicely lit. I was afraid it would be like an operation theatre, kind of cold and clinical, but it was really relaxing. I got onto the bed and was asked to lay down so I was comfortable. Carl marked my tongue with an antiseptic pen type thing. He did warn me that considering how my tongue looked that I may bleed quite a lot afterwards (which luckily, i didnt at all, i think it stopped after 20 mins) Next, Carl used a clamp to hold my tongue, I was told to poke it out as far as I could. To be honest, out of the whole process the clamping was probably the most uncomfortable part, still not at all painful though. Then he asked me to close my eyes. wiggle the toes on my right foot, then my left, then both together, as i did them both together i felt that it had been done as carl was screwing the ball on. he then removed the clamp and i got off the bed and he showed me to a mirror to look for a second and then took me to the sink where i had to rinse my mouth out for a good few minutes to reduce any initial swelling and bleeding. Luckily enough I didnt bleed a lot. And there wasnt any swelling really until the next day. After i left the studio, Rob was waiting to give me the aftercare information. He was very thorough and answered all of my questions. I was told to drink as much cold water and suck as much ice as I could. It was the hottest week of the year (august) when I got this done so my swelling did last a little longer, but this was as to be expected. Overall, it was axctually a really enjoyable experience and I am going back in 2 weeks for a new piercing. I healed really well and they were happy to answer any questions I had when I called (6 or 7 times! lol) over the next few weeks. Definitely the best reputation I've ever heard of for a piercing studio....Posted by: Kelly

Robb did my first piercing - my lip in the centre, and he made me feel relaxed and not scared at all. I have since had my lobe and pinna done by carl - one of the nicest guys you'l ever meet. They use only the best equipment and all the staff are some of the nicest people you'l ever meet. Go to bodz.info to find out about their piercing techniques and opinions, they truly are proffesionals.Posted by: Ross
