A Safety Pin is a device most commonly used to attach two pieces of fabric together. Piercing safety pins are made to resemble the common safety pin, but are used as piercing jewellery.

Saline Solution is a general term referring to a sterile solution of sodium chloride (salt) and water. Frequently used for intravenous infusion, rinsing contact lenses, cleaning piercings, nasal irrigation, and the yogic practice called jala neti. Saline solutions are available in various formulations for different purposes.

The Scaffold piercing is two or more separate rim (or cartilage) piercings that are joined by one barbell.

This procedure can be performed as separate piercings with separate jewellery and allowed to heal individually, but can also be fitted with one PTFE barbell, which will decrease the amount of tension placed on the structure of the cartilage itself.

The piercer should carefully mark and plan the piercing so the gauge is suitable for all the tissue it travels though.

Screw in Ball Rings are similar to ball closure rings. Instead of a clip in ball, these have an externally threaded ball which screws on and off.

Sea Mines are a type of Tongue Tickler.

Tongue Ticklers are soft, silicone rubber accessories that fit onto 6mm threaded balls. They are also UV (Ultra-Violet) light reactive, glowing bright under blacklight (perfect for a funky night out clubbing!).

The nasal Septum separates the left and right airways of the nose, dividing the two nostrils.

The septum can be pierced through the soft, fleshy part separated by the nostril cartilage.

Septum Keepers are retainers used to keep the septum piercing open when the septum jewellery is unworn. They are also used to hide the piercing, as they cannot be seen up the nose.

Septum keepers come in various designs, such as a straight bar or a horseshoe shape, which flips up and inside the nose.

A SIlver Nipple Shield (a term often used interchangeably with 'nipple covers', 'breast petals', 'petal tops' and other variations) is a piece of body jewellery worn on the nipple, partially or fully covering the areola.

The shield part of the jewellery encircles the nipple and can be held in place by various means such as adhesive, suction, friction, but most commonly a nipple piercing.

The primary intent of a nipple shield is usually to lift, adorn and ornament the nipple and the breast, in the same manner as other body piercing jewellery. A nipple shield can also be worn to smooth the transition between nipple and breast, so as to disguise the protuberant feature and present a smoother clothed profile.

The Snug piercing is located through the inner cartilage, halfway down the outer rim of the ear, above the anti-tragus.

In most cases this area is quite shallow and micro jewellery is often used. Curved barbells are preferable and need only be a few millimetres longer than the thickness of the cartilage.

A Spring Loaded Ball Closure Ring (BCR) allows you to insert and remove a captive bead without tools. The captive ball has two outward-pushing areas at each end, which clip into the ring easily as the ball is pushed into the gap. The spring-loaded mechanism inside the ball holds it in place securely.

A Steel Cock Ring (or cockring) is a ring that is placed around a man's penis, usually at the base, primarily to slow the leakage of blood from the erect penile tissue, thus maintaining erection for longer. Cock rings can be worn around just the penis or penis and scrotum, or just the scrotum alone, though this is usually designated as a testicle cuff.

Most commonly leather, rubber or silicone, although nylon and metal are also used either as the main component or part of the closure.

The Stethoscope is an acoustic medical device for auscultation, or listening, to internal sounds in a human or animal body. It is most often used to listen to heart sounds and breathing, although it is also used to listen to intestines and blood flow in arteries and veins.

Stretching Crescents are used to stretch piercings gradually. The crescent gradually goes up in thickness from the starting point to the finishing point. Over a long period you can gradually move the crescent along to stretch the piercing, or a whole size up at a time.

Stretching Tapered Insertion Pins are used to stretch piercings up one size at a time. At one end of the tapered insertion pin is a small groove slightly larger than the size of the intended jewellery. The new jewellery slots into the larger end and is threaded through the stretched piercing.

Pushing the pin slowly through the piercing will stretch it up to the desired size. When the tapered insertion pin is all the way through, the jewellery will follow and slide into the piercing.

Surface Piercings are any body piercings that take place on the surface of the body, where the piercing canal transverses a surface flap of skin rather than running completely through a piece of body tissue from one side to another.

Sometimes surface piercings are difficult to heal because the body may reject the jewellery as this is a 'foreign object' placed into your system. The jewellery is pushed to the surface, causing the piercing to grow out. Proper placement and jewellery selection by an experienced body piercer can help alleviate this problem.

Lazer Cut Eyelets are a design variation of the single flared eyelets. The front of the eyelet has a lazer-cut design, such as a star, showing through the hole of the stretched piercing.
