Piercing Retainers

Piercing Retainers are acrylic materials designed in the shape of body piercing jewellery, worn in place of metal body jewellery. Retainers come in many different shapes and sizes, specifically suited to different piercings such as labret studs, barbells, bananabells, curved barbells and nostril studs.

Retainers are used to conceal piercings for different purposes, such as work, school or to replace metal materials for medical purposes including X-Rays or surgery.

Prince Albert

PTFE

A highly inert plastic used for jewellery and implants.

PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), is an extremely inert plastic and is resistant to body chemicals. It is suitable for autoclaving, so it can safely be used in fresh piercings. Along with silicone, PTFE has become the material of choice for implant artists. One of PTFE's features is that it has the lowest coefficient of friction of any known solid material. PTFE is also flexible, allowing it to move slightly with the body when used in piercings.
