Smile Hi from Amsterdam

Hi,

I'm Chris from Amsterdam.

My friend told me about this site though I'm sure I've come across it before. Then I went and got a tongue piercing yesterday, and posted about it in the "Piercing Experiences & Diaries" section - sorry I can't post links yet.

I didn't get any piercings for years (I'm 31) - one reason is because I couldn't wear visible ones in my job, maybe some can pull it off but not me.

But another reason is I just couldn't pull it off. Worried what other people might think etc. That's why my username is "preppyguy". Because I look like the kind of conservative office worker guy who would be last to get piercings! I do not fulfil a "normal" piercing sterotype like "alternative/goth/emo/woman".

Last couple of years I've had some major life-changing things happen to me. So time for another one. Despite even being told by one guy I know "it's gay, it's for sucking c**k", I decided to throw caution to the wind and get my tongue pierced. Who cares what others think.

Now I've had it done, I couldn't care less what other people think. I am itching for my next piercing - why not? I feel a "will" or magnetism to them like I'm sure many (most?) others here do also - the asthetics are not really a factor to me i.e. I don't have fashion reasons for piercings.

Anyway, that's me. Hi to everyone here. If any of you are ever in Amsterdam, let me know and we can hang out.

Chris

Hello to you as well! I don't think tongue piercings are indicatively gay, and I should know.

Life is about doing what you want , so good for you that you finally got your piercing.
Since im only 19 (although im legal in Canada, where i live) , I live with my parents. VERY strict parents. When i got my first piercing (tragus) I was scared to get yelled at, but on second thought, who cares? It's a piece of skin and if i wanna remove it , after a bit it won't show. So the others followed

Dumb question...my friend is passing by Amsterdam (airport only) pretty soon. She wanted to know if could smoke up in the aiport and so, if there were any places to buy some. Thanks and welcome

and btw, piercings don't label you at all. I have a few and i love them and tats as well but i'm very preppy myself. You wouldn't expect me to like these things. But again, who cares? Im happy this way

Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up
again, but life goes on.

Well done for doing it bro. I was also scared about what other people would think of my piercings, being in a similar professional environment to what you used to be. In the end though if you want it then get it. I just chose to avoid facial/ear piercings. Anyway, who are they to dictate to you?

Christina045 - there's nowhere to buy weed in the airport, your friend would be best off taking a train (15 mins) into Amsterdam Centraal Station, and there are several coffeeshops within 10 minutes walk of there.

My 32 year old friend today said his Dad would not like him to get tattoos. And he doesn't even live at home anymore! Like you say "who cares?"

How long is she passing by for? I would recommend getting a train to the station as banyantree says - it is so easy and quick and efficient service, you're there in no time and there are coffeeshops everywhere near the station.

Otherwise, if she only has one hour or two layover then she could try asking nicely the departing tourists who can always be found outside the airport (I forget if it's the lower or the upper level) smoking whatever remains they have left before flying

Yes, I would probably not even be able to have facial/ear/tongue piercings in my old job. Maybe hide the tongue piercing possibly.

Now I work for myself I can do what I want. It's a shame that so many people in this world have a negative view of tattoos and piercings. I don't understand where this originates from. Is there some evolutionary reason for the negative emotional reaction?

By the way, i didn't mean in a bad way, but in the end you're the one that lives with them. I say "who cares" regardless of who actually does care because you can't go on living according to everybody's expectancies. Besides, i speak for myself, but when you really want something, even if it would be a mistake, you'll still want it. And if it is a mistake, well you'll find out by getting it.

Thanks for the info!
