Microdermal at 16?

So I was basically looking around this site and it seems there are some places that do MDs at 16, without parental consent. I was thinking of finding a place for hip MDs, but do you think they'd be dodgy places?

To be blunt, yes, any place that does them at 16 without consent is most likely doing them just for the money and not too bothered about repeat clients or satisfaction.

+1, I'm desperate for Microdermals, but IMO, they're more like a tattoo, and although they aren't as permanent, it's till something that you really need to think about. And much like tattoo studios that tattoo underage, they're just in it for the money and not customer satisfaction. To be fair, I'd just wait until you're eighteen and see if you're still really desperate for them.

As an alternative, if you absolutely must get something there you could go for skin divers, they may not be as permanent and you might find they get pulled out very easily if they're near your waist band but it will give you the same look without the more permanence of dermals.

However again you'll find the studios willing to do them at your age may not be overly experienced or concerned with getting them 'right'.

WITH parental consent and a proper consultation with both piercee and parent you might find a good place to do it. Just have to ask the studios really.

I'm not sure my mum would agree tbh,
but I want them last, and my other piercings healing time and shit should take me past 18 anyway xD

I'm still yet to perform my first microdermal but have already turned down 2 different girls that asked them, one was 16 and the other 17. Between 16 - and 18 they MUST have parental consent and the parent be present for any of my piercings, but I think I'm gonna keep divers and dermals for over 18's only.

hmm, i didn't know you had to be over 18 for microdermals! i'm 17 and i just got a microdermal in my wrist done. the piercer who did it has been piercing 13 years, been doing microdermals for 2, and i'd trust her with my life. i don't think that studios that would perform microdermals on 16 and 17 year olds means they're not reputable, does it?

You don't have to be 18 for a microdermal by law. Just like you don't have to be 18 to get a genital piercing by law.

But the difference between the law and a respectful piercing place is pretty large and I think whats being talked about here is really 'what kind of place would put a dermal / genital piercing in someone under 18?!

Answer: Not somewhere that cares overly much about what they do / are only in it for the money / don't know enough about the industry etc :P
